Caroline, founder of Organise.Curate.Design. — or O.C.D. for short — is a successful small business owner who has progressed from attending Small Business Festival events, to hosting her own. She credits the Small Business Festival workshops and talks that she attended in 2017 as being key to the success of her start up.
“I had been running another small business since 2013 and launched O.C.D. in July 2017. Attending the Festival soon after I launched O.C.D. really helped me to start on the right foot. I’ve been attending events since 2015 and in 2017 I attended five great events including one called ‘Start, Build and Grow your Business Online” she said.
“This event taught me invaluable skills about how to understand and reach my online audience and I immediately implemented what I learnt across all of my online channels. I have no doubt this contributed to the success of my business”.
Caroline has attended many Small Business Festivals over the years on topics from finance and budgeting to team building and leadership.
“I guess you could say I was bitten by the Small Business Festival bug. I now try to fit in as much as I can in the month of August!”
Organise.Curate.Design (or O.C.D.) is a ‘life assistant’ business, helping everyone from single mums to busy working professionals and small business owners. It was Caroline’s experience as a small business owner that inspired her to start O.C.D.
“I was thinking of some of the big-ticket items on my to do list and thought how great it would be if someone could help me with them, or better yet, do them for me! That’s where the O.C.D. idea was born”.
Caroline provides a unique service that helps design a more balanced and holistic life for her clients, assisting them to organise, manage and action items on their to do lists.
“As a small business owner and a mother, I know how hard it is to get everything done. We often want it all — to be the best parent, best boss, whatever our titles may be. You can have it all, but you don’t have to do it all, and that’s the service I provide”.
With O.C.D.’s first year anniversary around the corner, Caroline’s business achievements have been celebrated and recognised by the local and small business community. She was a recent finalist for ‘Best Juggler’ at the National Business Brilliance Awards and is a current finalist for the upcoming Monash Business Awards.
Caroline says that attending the Small Business Festival events were so helpful that she was inspired to give back to the small business community. She’ll host her own event as part of this year’s Small Business Festival, giving other business owners and innovative individuals an opportunity to expand their networks.
“I’m a big believer in bringing people along for the ride and getting people together. We all benefit so much more when we’re supporting each other, and networking can really help to grow your business”.
“It’s exciting to be a part of the Festival this year with my ‘Young Monash: Business Networking Event. I hope the people attending take something really useful and inspiring away from it,” Caroline said.
Caroline’s Young Monash: Business Networking Event will take place on Thursday 23 August in Mulgrave.
